嘉士伯艺术博物馆的点评
点评：This is a fantastic place! It shows off the collection made by brewer Carl Jacobsen and is full of gorgeous statues, paintings and sculptures. I loved the 19th century pure white sculptures – and in particular those by Rodin. The lovely winter garden – just beyond the entrance sits under a glass dome where you can relax under a canopy of flowers, statues and the dome itself. In other parts of the museum there is a stunning collection of Greek and Roman sculptures all imaginatively displayed and some fabulous paintings including examples from Monet, Pissarro, Van Gogh, Cezanne and Degas. There is also a special exhibition based around Degas’s small ballerina statue – and the new dress made for her by the museum. Another area resembles a classical Greek temple – a large rectangle space with colonnades and marble Romaan statues. The floor is made of paved coloured tiles. The surprise for me was the Egyptian section – imaginatively displayed and superbly lit. We have been to Luxor and Aswan and although there is more to see there, the peace and tranquillity of the Glyptotek’s Egyptian carvings and tombs gave you time to enjoy the beauty of the engravings. This was the top museum for us in Copenhagen – and the coffee shop and book shop (overlooking the winter garden) are also lovely too.
