Disappointing Visit-Facility not well maintained-Many empty exhibits

点评：The parking lot and entrance are OK but the rest of the facility is neglected, out of date and in cases in a state of disrepair. The indoor exhibit buildings have not been updated in decades and it seems that about 1/3 or more of the individual exhibits are now empty. Same for the outdoor exhibits. These exhibits and common areas are overgrown with weeds and even poison ivy. Everything seems neglected and in need of simple maintenance such as mowing and routine grounds care. There had been some rain and the sidewalks did not drain and held inches of water in about a dozen spots.
I've lived in Birmingham for over 50 years and this has never been a great zoo but today's visit was very disappointing.
I won't elaborate on the conditions for the animals but I think the zoo could and should certainly do better.
The presidents of some of the corporate donors should visit and ask some serious questions about how their money is being spent.
