托莱多动物园的点评
点评：We were in town visiting friends and decided to go to the Toledo Zoo. We were there for about 4 hours and did not see everything! Completely missed the Museum of Natural History and the Ziems Conservatory that is within the zoo:( The Reptile House was under construction but we wouldn't have had time to go through it anyway. LOTS to see and do! Give yourself at least 5 or 6 hours if you want to see it all and especially if you have littles that love a good splash pad to cool off in!
This zoo has a lot of little, fun, novelty things that I have not seen in a zoo before. For example, in the Arctic Encounter Exhibit they had an Artic Blast chamber that was really cool to give kids (and adults) an idea of how fast and hard the winds of arctic blow. Plus, its a quick way to cool off if you are there when it is hot out. It costs $2 but you can easily fit 3 kids in the chamber or two adults. The orangutan outdoor exhibit has a button inside the enclosure that the orangutans can push that activates a shower head outside the exhibit to shower people with water going by. They didn't do it while we were there but that would be pretty funny to see! Inside the orangutan nursery room, they have an ultrasound of one of females when pregnant that was cool to see.
Fountain water is free, thank goodness. I've been to other zoos that charge $5 for a bottle of water and do not hand out fountain water. Food is expensive (as most zoos are) but portions are a good size, so you could easily split a dinner. We will definitely be visiting again:)
