点评:Our work group’s day trip to Atauro Island with Compass was dangerously unsafe. The boat on their own website states a max of 10–11 passengers, yet we had 12 on the way over and 13 on the return. No safety briefing, no proper seats (chilly bins with cushions on top), and life jackets were hidden under gear. When my colleague asked for them, she was told, “You won’t need them,” — absolutely appalling, especially as no one was asked about their swimming ability. Nothing justified that comment.
At Atauro, a teammate was injured disembarking the tender — no urgency in getting her out of the situation, no one spoke any English so we could not communicate, absolutely traumatic start to the day.
The return trip was worse: bad weather forecast, overloaded boat, ran out of fuel halfway through the journey, no radio, no flares, no water, no plan. We drifted for almost three hours, only rescued thanks to patchy PASSENGER phone reception. No crew member called for help — the only person who tried was an off-duty diving instructor, barred from using the radio.
On arrival, the owner simply said, “Well, you’re safe now.” This was gross negligence. Compass put lives at serious risk — avoid at all costs.
To make matters worse they are now deleting reviews from their Facebook page.
