Book the guided tour;self-guided tour is disappointing

点评：First off I want to say that I truly appreciate what the staff and community does for the animals. My review in no way lessens that.
After our visit I would only recommend going at times when a tour is offered. Our entry time was at 3:30pm on a Thursday. My husband arrived with our granddaughter at 3pm. I wasn't able to get there until 3:30pm due to work. They weren't allowed to enter the sanctuary until the entire party arrived. We were the only other people in the park. I feel that they should've been allowed to start looking at the animals before I arrived. We were not on a tour. It was self-guided. It was cooler- upper 50's/lower 60's so most of the animals were not out. I would guess that only 1/3 of them were out (we may have seen a dozen different animals). The reptile house was closed for construction. We were told we could look in the window to try and see the alligator. Some of the walkways were also closed for construction so you could not get a good view of some of the animals beyond that. It was a very disappointing visit.
As I said, we took the self-guided tour to work with our schedules. What would be extremely helpful and appreciated would be signs telling you what type of animal it was. Since a lot of these animals are rescued, a little history about them would also have been nice to read about. Doesn't have to be fancy signs....could be something printed off and laminated.
What animals we did see looked like they were cared for. Their habitats were clean. I would do another visit but only as a tour.
