Quiet, Clean, Natural Beaches & Forest, a Tropical Island Paradise

点评：Are you looking for natural beaches - mostly deserted & spectacular - with just the splashing of the waves? Saboga is the place for you. Do you want a tropical jungle island but with first class accomodations? Consider the vacation inn at El Remanso, currently booked thru airbnb. On the island of Saboga of the Las Perlas archipelago, it's 1.5 hours by ferry from Panama City. We visited El Remanso on Saboga in dry season and, imo, that's the way to go. Jan, Feb, Mar, April for perfect weather and no bugs of any kind.
There are supposedly 3 restaurants in town but we found only one. Gianluca is a well-known character around Saboga and he claims to be a chef. Well, he does own the restaurant. Avoid Gianluca in Cucina if you can but it's ok in a pinch and he's the only guy in Saboga that accepts credit cards. I suggest the pizza (pretty good!). The seafood he serves is subpar - it sure ain't gourmet. Still, if you didn't bring food to prepare, Saboga is that kind of place. There is also seafood from local catches but it's spotty & you'll need a little luck. We scored local prawns, although frozen, and they were super good!
My suggested walk: (there are several similar to this)...
Walk up the road from El Remanso to the nearby roundabout. Keep to the left. It's a shady & breezy walk, about a half mile, to a sharp left that opens up to a spectacular Beach, Playa Blanca. (If you keep going past that turn, there supposedly is an archeoological site.) Return via the beach! About half the walk back is over wonderful volcanic rock formations. Go at lowish tide, and avoid noon to 4PM if you can (to avoid the humidity & heat). You'll love this magnificent beach & rock hike! But you'll see no other people.
