Accommodation not as advertised!

点评：There were elements of my visit here that I really enjoyed, but I have to admit that my personal homestay experience was underwhelming and disappointing.
I’m used to staying in all kinds of places, and I’m definitely not ‘precious’ but the accommodation I stayed in was not how Intrepid advertised it - “Villagers have built comfortable rooms for their guests next to their homes”.
The rest of my group were staying together in two different homes. I was placed alone with a family a car ride away from my friends and fellow travel companions. I actually felt quite isolated and lonely, as I don’t speak Spanish, and the family I stayed with don’t speak English. Thankfully I had Google Translate, but nice as the family were, they weren’t particularly engaging which made me feel uncomfortable.
On top of that my friends were given private rooms adjacent to the homeowners with adjoining bathrooms - which is the type of accommodation I thought I’d be staying in. But I was actually staying in a tiny family home. If I’d felt more welcomed (and comfortable) I don’t think that would have bothered me so much, but I felt very much like an unwanted and intrusive guest.
My friends offered to let me share their room, but I was worried the family I was appointed to wouldn’t get paid, so because it was just for one night I stayed.
I would say that tour companies need to be more honest about the quality of the accommodation you could potentially end up with, rather than advertising it as they currently do. I think possibly my expectations were too high, and I ended up feeling really negatively about what should have been a really wonderful experience.
I’m not going to post pics of the accommodation I stayed in as I feel that would be disrespectful to the family.
