Interesting Village Experience - Muchas gracias Sophia

点评：Spent 1 night of our recent trp to CR at Turismo Rural Juanilama. We (a family of 3) were staying with Sophia. The room attached - but separate from the main home - was clean and comfortable with mozzy nets and a separate bathroom. Sophia was a very warm host who was kind enough to make us a lovely evening meal and breakfast the next morning. Our Spanish is sadly none existent which did limit the amount we were able to communicate and make the most of our time there, but Sophia's daughter (and delightful granddaughter) were around and we were able to communicate in English well enough to learn a little about our hosts and their lives. We felt very welcome although Spanish speakers would probably get even more out of the trip.
Our travel agent had advised to arrive by 3pm but in truth as there was nothing planned for the afternoon we could have taken a little more time to get there. The following morning before we left we spent a wonderful couple of hours in the community garden. I have regrettably forgotten the name of the lovely young lady who showed us around but she had a real love for the village, garden and plants and spoke fluent english which helped us get the most out of the visit. My daughter especially loved seeing the cacao seeds and how they are turned in to cocoa and for us this was a better way to see this than an elaborate and expensive chocolate tour.
If you are visiting La Fortuna and have an extra night I highly recommend this as a different and worthwhile stop off.
