点评：It is a fertile rural valley and the town is very quaint …. We spent 3 1/2 full days and really could have done it in half the time. It is about 2.5 hours by car away from Havana. We took a collectivo … which is like a fixed rate share taxi … we shared with another couple (our accommodation host organised it for us) and it cost $25US each. We stayed in a guest house … there are MANY to choose from. But be warned … electricity shortages are lengthy, food shortages are common and things on the menu are often not available. Wifi is non existent (without the electricity) and the reception is poor … we found sitting in the town plaza was the best place to access it … we bought a wifi card for 1 hour for 25 Cuban pesos from a text store… there’s a few in town. Don’t expect too much … it is rough diamond to look at, but the people are friendly and generous. They are helpful and even though few speak English (and our Spanish is limited) we managed to be understood. There seems to be a limited number of activities that don’t take too long to experience… the horse riding can be done in the morning … takes about 3-4 hours. And in the afternoon the caves ( the river boat one is better than the other), large hill mural and lookout can be competed. Due to the distance, an overnight stay may be helpful to rest).
A word of warning for the faint hearted (like me) … the collectivo taxis we used did not have seatbelts and the vintage cars (although cool) did not have speedometers either! Car speed was approximate … I’m sure we went faster than the 100 sign posts.
