A must see if visiting st Ives/Hayle area for all ages

点评：Originally I thought this might be focussed mainly for children but I was wrong. We had a fantastic morning there (we were there about 3 hours). The birds and animals are well looked after and the grounds are pretty. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and would go back again. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They raised awareness about the decline of birds through habitat destruction, the use of pesticides and poaching because of the pet trade. Not many people may be aware of this.
They are doing a great job rescuing birds that have either been kept in poor conditions as pets (including birds of prey!), where they have been injured and can't be released or they are on a breeding program due to being critically endangered.
We really enjoyed the birds of prey show where they were flying around very close to us: over our head! They are free to fly off if they wanted to which is testament that they are treated well.
There are daily shows with penguin and otter feeding as well as being able to purchase food (very cheaply) to feed some birds in a walk in enclosure.
It was also lovely to see the red pandas, otter family, penguins, pink flamingo, donkeys, sheep and goats too! (Again you can purchase food for under £1 to feed the sheep/goats). I wanted to see the red squirrel but they were shy and hiding away 🙂
Overall a fab day out if you are a couple, a family or on your own and it was good value for money.
