点评:I hadn't intended to do Carfax Tower during my free time in Oxford, but it wasn't busy at all and I had about 20 minutes before the Modern Art museum opened, so I headed in and paid the £4 to do the climb. Staff were pleasant and friendly, and I was able to pay my admission easily via card.
I've done some longer tower climbs before so I knew what to expect with regards to spiral stairways and steep steps, but a heads-up for the adult (or claustrophobic) visitor: it's an especially tight squeeze. I had to do some of the climb sideways like a crab, and I'm smaller than your average bear. Bulky bags and backpacks are also best left with a non-ascending pal, at your hotel, or in your car - there's no storage on site.
Once you get up to the top though, and it shouldn't take you too long if it's not busy, you get some fantastic views of Oxford's busy streets. There's some interesting information boards halfway up if you fancy brushing up on your history, and if you want to see the original Quarterboys that were once stationed outside, they're kept in the Museum of Oxford.
A pleasant little bonus activity during my flying visit to the Dreaming Spires.
