点评:A small museum that packs a big punch! Lots of artefacts from the WWII period arranged informatively & illustrative films which really bring home how utterly terrible this period was for Malta. BUT the star of the show is the rock-cut air-raid shelter, a complex of tunnels under the museum/fort. The guide who took us down there was super informative & passionate and really communicated what it was to live through war and siege and daily mortal danger, with half your life spent cramped underground while high explosives rain down above. At the end of the tour the guide suggested we remain behind to explore - all I can say is that I lasted 5 minutes and then fled - it is a place of suffocating terror, but important to visit as life is not just “happy” snapshots whether we like it or not!
