Fun Time, But Not One of the Better ST Stadiums

点评：You never have a bad time watching a Spring Training game, but Joker Marchant definitely has some issues. We’ve been to several ST stadiums and so far, this has definitely been our least favorite.
The first big problem we encountered was just getting to the parking at the stadium. They built this stadium in the middle of an area that is pretty residential. The roads in and out are tiny residential streets that are just not cut out for handling all the traffic. We left ourselves enough travel time to get there an hour+ early, but we sat in traffic less than a mile from the stadium for so long, we actually ended up missing the top of the 1st inning.
Once we finally got to the parking, it was directed by (mostly very elderly) people who seemed to be a little befuddled about the whole process. We were nearly in a fender-bender because they were waving two different cars to the exact same spot.
Once you finally arrive at the stadium, everything else also seems to be disorganized and a bit chaotic. A woman scanned our tickets, then they tried to make us scan our tickets again. We never went through any sort of security, and my wife’s bag was never checked. We were cool with that, but it seems odd in this day and age that people can enter a stadium without going through security.
Once inside, we grabbed some food which was, honestly, terrible. The sandwiches were so greasy they fell apart when we tried to pick them up.
The on field guy who does the games and contests was using a mic that was constantly going in and out. The scoreboard operator consistently had the wrong batter up to bat, the wrong ball/strike count and sometimes even the wrong team up to bat. Some players were announced and put on the board as “unknown”.
Our seats, which should have been really good seats, had terrible sight lines, and the seats were angled partially away from home plate. We had to try to twist our bodies towards home plate just to see the action.
The security guy in our section was a very elderly man who could barely walk up and down the stairs.
Did we have a fun time despite all this? Absolutely. But the experience could have also been much better and more comfortable.
We can’t recommend Joker Marchant Stadium as there are simply much better Spring Training venues in Florida.
