点评:The Hellbrunn Christmas Market near Salzburg is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful markets in the region: wonderfully decorated, filled with fir trees, red ornaments and a magical atmosphere. As someone who genuinely loves Austria, I am rarely disappointed by local service – but this time I encountered an unfortunate exception.
At a stand called “Burger & Currywurst”, I decided to try the currywurst for €8.90. At that price, I expected something special. Instead, the vendor – wearing a baseball cap – pulled out a simple boiled meat sausage, quartered it, warmed it up and called it “currywurst.” When I politely asked what kind of currywurst this was supposed to be, he reacted defensively and claimed that a currywurst could be “interpreted” in many ways. His attitude said everything – and paying nearly €27 for three portions was simply unreasonable.
Only a few steps further I later discovered a stand offering real, properly grilled sausages – unfortunately too late.
My conclusion:
The Christmas market itself is beautiful, but the stand “Burger & Currywurst” should definitely be avoided if you don’t want to leave disappointed. A pity that one stall casts a shadow on an otherwise wonderful market experience.
