Great Athlete and Fascinating Person, Wonderful Stopover Museum, Unkempt Bathrooms in the Park!

点评：I was pleasantly surprised to see the sign for this coming westbound on I-10. I was just thinking "Isn't Babe Zaharias from Beaumont" and then bam! What a great place to stop by and learn about the greatest female athlete who ever lived. Not just a great athlete but a fascinating human being and I wish so much she could have lived past 45 (died of colon cancer in 1956). As a huge sports fan, I would have loved to have seen her older version at golf and olympic track events in the 80s and maybe 90s.
It's a great 10-15 minute visit to the museum, but just to warn you that the bathroom facilities across the park are unkempt. They are there for emergency, but if you want clean restrooms, go elsewhere.
The museum has restricted hours so check on that if you're making a separate trip.
Admission is free; they have a donation box and a gift shop.
