Unreal, I can’t stress enough how much you need to do this!

点评：I don’t even know where to begin with this particular review. This was, hands down, the most incredible tour/activity I have ever done on any of my travels! And it’s all because of Hordur (Mr Iceland). I’m reading reviews it has been mentioned that the time here was very genuine and love-filled, and I couldn’t agree more. I have never had a horseback riding experience like this! From the minute you walk in the door there is a calm to this place. And after hearing a brief history of the Icelandic horse you get paired with one, and actually spend some time in its stall getting to know it, brushing it, standing with it quietly. I have never felt so bonded with an animal before! Next you practice in the indoor arena using Hordur’s incredibly calm and intuitive riding style, it’s a meditative experience in itself and the instruction is so personalized. Then you’re off on the trail, weaving across rivers and through wide Icelandic fields, going between faster speeds and slower, and just fully experiencing the ride with your horse, rather than just bobbing around while the horse goes wherever it wants (which I feel is the usual experience on horse tours). It was nothing short of magic.
We had dinner afterwards, lovingly prepared and insanely delicious, and learned more about each other as people, which i noticed our host masterfully facilitated as well. He is, above all, about connection…people, horses, landscape, and it permeates through every part of this experience. I'm not surprised that people walk away from this feeling healed, or lighter than when they walked in. That's just the magic of what Hordur does there, and it is incredible.
If you do just one thing in Iceland, do this. I can't wait to come back.
