圣灵教堂的点评
点评：I really loved this basilica. They do not allow you to take photos of the art, but that adds to the spiritual space.
One of the unofficial rules of Florence churches is true here - the plainer the exterior, the more wonderful it is inside.
If you like Renaissance architecture and art, all for free, this is definitely worth a visit. Also of interest are the saints' relics in the 38 family chapels.
In one chapel I counted bone fragments from 22 saints.
Others have full hip bones or femurs, in true medieval spirt.
The staff and Augustinian monk were very friends. It is definitely worth paying the $2 extra for the Michelangelo crucifix and, far more important, the gorgeous cloister with mature trees and full garden, with family tombs dotted on the walls.
The very kind Filipina lady collecting the $2 volunteered to look after my sleeping 3-year-old in his stroller while I had a look around.
This is a very active church - the chapter house in the cloister hosts talks on art, how to defeat the mafia and many other subjects in the month I was in Florence. In short, a triumph in many, many ways.
