SYMBOLIC METAL SCULPTURE ADDED AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE GARDENS

点评：The Central Avenue entrance to the Joe B. Parks Riverwalk Public Gardens recently had a metal sculpture installed.
The artist was Markus Weinfurter of Durham, NH.
The sculpture named “Reaching Across” was designed to represent nature with a vine-like base and white flowers across the top of the arch, mankind, and technology with mechanical parts for manufacturing that represent Dover’s industrial past.
How all the recycled metal parts were assembled into the sculpture is remarkable.
Many civic and private organizations as well as businesses were involved in making this project happen. Even welding students from Dover High School's Career Technical Center were involved.
The project took over a year to complete.
I think it’s great to have some public art in the downtown area. I’d like to see more.
For just the time and effort that went into producing this large artwork, I rate this addition to the public gardens at 4.50 and highly recommend a visit during which I suggest visitors closely examine the details of its numerous parts.
For quite awhile, I had been very far behind in submitting my reviews due to a long loss of my ability to post photos with my reviews and some health issues, but I’m catching up and closing in on getting current.
