点评:This was the first of two ancient villages we visited on our trip.
There's a small, free car park 600m away from the village. Access to the car park is via narrow lanes. There are two pathways to the village from here. The first is over farmland where cattle regularly graze and can be very muddy is wet weather. We chose the second pathway to the north west where access to the site is via a stone stile. This pathway looked the most interesting and was fun to walk along. Both paths are clearly signposted from the car park.
The site is free to enter and enjoy.
The village was occupied from the Iron Age through to the late Roman period. The Cornwall Heritage Trust have put up informative signs around the site. The most intriguing and interesting feature was the fogou, a stone walled underground passage found only in the west of Cornwall.
I'm glad I visited. It was very interesting and peaceful. I recommend it. I highly recommend Chysauster Ancient Village, which is just 5 miles down the road. That was the second one we visited and my favourite.
