点评：Ripley, Ohio, was a center for underground railroad activity, and the Rev. John Rankin and his family, parishioners, and friends were responsible for welcoming thousands of runaway slaves to free land before ushering them on to the next stop. Hear how over 300 folks in the town participated in helping folks along their way to freedom. The view alone overlooking the beautiful Ohio River valley is worth the drive. This is an amazing place that shows us what ordinary people committed to a cause can do. There are tours of the house on the hour, which is worth doing. Those with mobility issues are accommodated, but if you have trouble standing, you'll have to ask for a folding chair unless you bring your own mobility device. I'm not a huge fan of house tours, but this is not about the house as much as it is about how one family did so much to help those hungry for freedom. Complete your tour of the Ripley's underground railroad work by visiting the John H. Parker house down on the river. You can easily do both in one day and be much richer for the experience.
