Milner Gardens & Woodland的点评
点评：Pros: lovely woodland walk including old growth of Douglas firs and cedars, some nice big rhodos in bloom, sweet gift shop, complimentary shuttle cart available to transport 6-8 visitors from Welcome Centre to Milner House, tea room (in Milner House) offers glorious views of the Strait of Georgia and the Sunshine Coast. Free parking. Accessible washrooms and tea room. Children 12 years and younger are free, along with VIU students and MGardens members.
Cons: expensive admission considering the size of the property -- I was expecting to see more gardens. Compared to UVic's Finnerty Gardens which is free, Milner has little to offer except a beautiful historical grounds and building overlooking the seaside coast. (Noted that they were currently clearing some forested areas to plant more flowering plants. The complimentary shuttle cart does not go through garden or woodland paths so no notable views along the drive. Limited hours of operation. No pets permitted on the grounds except guide dogs.
As with most gardens, the best time to view flowers in bloom is in May and business is open from Thursdays to Sundays during high season, reduced days and hours other seasons. I would not go out of my way to come here but it is a lovely piece of land to wander through and enjoy the natural beauty of this historic property by the sea. Excellent location for wedding photos/events.
