点评：Kansas City's Union Station, a railway depot that opened in 1914, serving Kansas City and the surrounding metropolitan area, served a peak annual traffic of more than 670,000 passengers at the end of World War 11 in 1945. But traffic declined sharply in the 1950s and the station closed in 1985. By 1999, after a $250 million restoration, the station reopened has a popular tourist attraction with museums, theaters and restaurants. In 2002, Amtrak began public transportation services and the station became Missouri's second busiest train station. Today, Union Station is a go-to destination. It even hosted the 2013 NFL draft. Located at 30 West Pershing Road, adjacent to Crown Center, Union Station hosts Science City, a family-friendly interactive science center with more than 50 hands-on exhibits; the H&R Block City State Theater, a live-action venue; the Register Extreme Screen, the largest movie screen in the region at 5 1/2 stories tall; two high-end restaurants, Pierpont's and Harvey's; the Gottlieb Planetarium, the largest of its kind in the area; and the Irish Museum and Cultural Center. Union Station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
