Four Tree Island的点评
点评：On a warm late summer afternoon, Four Tree Island was a great place for a walk and/or just enjoying the outdoors from a bench or picnic table.
There are many more than just four trees there now.
I've been there a number of times. Because of the fenced-off area and just an open gate for entry during the day, most people don't know about the wonderful park on the other side of the fence and gate.
On this particular visit, there were a few of people having picnics; a few others were just hanging out.
During my visit, I walked out on the causeway past the fishing pier to the end to see the profile sculpture of a mother and child.
Later, I sat on a bench near the path out to the end where the sculpture is. It was a great spot to view several nearby familiar landmarks in both Portsmouth and Kittery that included the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Bridge, and passing marine traffic that can include the sightseeing boats and the gundalow. The former Naval Prison is in the distance beyond the shipyard.
During my visit, a commercial fishing boat came by. Fishing vessels are a very common sight as the commercial fishing pier is nearby.
In season, the public restrooms are open.
Although the island is quite small, just about any picnic table there is the catbird seat for fabulous views of the Piscataqua River and all the landmarks along the riverbanks.
I rate Four Tree Island at 5.0 and can recommend a visit.
