点评：We left for our honeymoon to Sri Lanka in July. After a long journey, we finally arrived, and Sachin was already there waiting for us. He would be our guide for the next two weeks during our tour around the beautiful island of Sri Lanka.
We couldn't have been happier with Sachin as our guide. He showed us every place that was included in our itinerary and had so much interesting information to share about each location. He wasn't just the person taking us from A to B—he truly knew all the best places to visit, where we could safely eat with our Western European stomachs, and he always adapted to our wishes and suggestions.
We really wanted to visit a beautiful stupa that wasn't part of the original itinerary, and he managed to fit it perfectly into our schedule. The long drive between Sigiriya and Koslanda could have been done in just a few hours via the highway, but instead he took us along a stunning mountain road. Along the way, we stopped four times to visit a spice garden, a gemstone workshop, a tea plantation, and a restaurant with a breathtaking view. He really listened to what we wanted and tailored the trip to our level of travel experience.
He always knew exactly when tourists would forget to take pictures. At those moments, he grabbed his own camera and took photos of us, so we could exchange them later. Climbing Lion's Rock? He took photos. Sunsets, the entrances to temples and ancient ruins, cycling through a centuries-old village, or encountering leopards and elephants—he captured those moments for us whenever we forgot, or whenever we were simply overwhelmed by the beauty of the country.
He was always perfectly on time for every appointment, created a fun and relaxed atmosphere in the car, and guided us safely through Sri Lanka's hectic traffic. He is a very experienced driver with excellent judgment of speed and distance. There was always fresh drinking water available, and along the way he recommended delicious local snacks such as freshly made chips, freshly roasted cashews, fresh fruit, and coconut water straight from a king coconut.
We were genuinely sad to leave Sri Lanka. We would have happily spent another two weeks travelling around the country with Sachin, but unfortunately, every wonderful journey has to come to an end. We continued our honeymoon in the Maldives, and even then he checked in to make sure we had arrived safely.
As the trip went on, we got to know each other better, and he became much more than just our guide. You also get to know his personality, his story, and his interests, which made the experience even more special.
We wholeheartedly recommend Sachin as your guide and driver if you want to experience everything this incredible country has to offer. We're absolutely certain that if we ever return to Sri Lanka, we'll ask him to be our guide again and show us even more than he already has.
