Lundy Island的点评
点评：Getting to the island.
Check in at Ilfracombe was easy and smooth, the waiting on the dockside to board the Oldenburg was not so comfortable, either to or from the island as you had to wait 30-45 minutes, we had very hot weather and there was no shade, if it was raining it would be just as bad.
The boat, although old and interesting, it was not fit for purpose in the amount of seats on offer v customers. The boat was cramped, uncomfortable and in parts smelly.
Time for new boats.
The island
As others have said, the walk from the pier to the village is a tough walk, up hill all the way, likely to take you 30minutes, if you have mobility issues or are of an age or unfit, you will struggle.
The shop is small but well stocked, the pub was great with good food and drink offering.
The only place to get wi-fi is the impressive church.
There are plenty of tracks and trails, most fairly easy under foot, you can even join guided walks which are advertised at the shop or pub.
They also offer, round the island boat tours taking about 90 minutes. We did this at 25 pound each, it was well worth it to see the island from another angle.
Accommodation
This is where our trip to Lundy went rapidly down hill, we unfortunately chose Branble Villa West, a semi detached wood framed, two bed bungalow. It was really poorly maintained, with no private outdoor seating. The whole house smelt damp and musty, I suffered to go my mild asthma. The Landmark trust should be ashamed by the lack of tlc they show this place. Luckily we did not have young children as the worst room was the twin bedroom, it is not welcoming and the state of the damp ceiling above the beds is awful,
The walls between the West and East Villa are paper thin. The noise we suffered from the East house was very intrusive, there were 2 adults and 3 children, so naturally noise levels were high.
Thankfully we only stayed / nights.
