点评：Twelve scuba divers staying at Milcombe House on Lundy Island.
We stayed for one week, and were scuba diving each day. This review is mainly aimed with scuba divers in mind.
We paid for our luggage and provisions to be taken up the very steep uneven track to the house 0.7 mile. If you have any hip or knee problems or are not reasonably fit, this will not be your favourite part!
The cost to take your luggage up is £6 per person, minimum £36, each way. Quite hefty for a quad with a trailer for the twelve of us a cost of £72 each way. It's not possible to carry everything up, so not much of a choice.
There are changing rooms hidden at the back of the garage/ hanger by the slip way. It's not obvious and is locked. It's accessible over the plank that covers the large muddy puddle, past the plant machinery and storage. I think it's possible to pay to use it. I got changed in the garage/ hangar and left my drysuit there in a bag ready for the next day.
Air fills are available £10 each, fills ranged from 175-200 bar. We also had a couple of bad fills, we think the plant machinery may have been running when a couple of the cylinders were being filled. They did say one of the cylinders wasn't able to be filled as it only had 60 bar in it... They did knock some money off for the fills due to the poor service.
There's no where to dry soggy under garments, it's preferred that you not dry wet stuff in the house. With no drying room, inside or outside, there's really no option.
After a couple of days someone came to fix the heating, this made a huge difference. Having windows open in the misty weather didn't help anything get dry.
There's no electricity from midnight until 6am, so bring power packs and a torch.
The kitchen is very well equipped although no microwave or washing machine. There are 2 large sitting rooms so you can find a nice quiet spot. The beds are really comfy and have excellent pillow's, bedrooms are spacious with a chest of drawers in each and limited hanging space. Phone signal is sporadic at best.
The house was lovely and clean and tastefully decorated with lots of nice squishy comfy sofas.
The shop is limited and as you'd expect expensive. The pub/ resteraunt serves good food and a few hand pulled beers.
Everyone is friendly and helpful, helpful hint, take waterproofs for the crossing to the island, it took three days for my husband's jeans to dry out! I don't get sea sick but I was close!!
