点评：Driving from Dorchester Town centre, which is another story, we followed the signs to the Iron Age Hillfort.
Wow...... Words fail me.
The pictures I had seen didn't prepare me for the first glimpse of the overwhelming size of the fort.
Scanning the site was awesome, it's huge. Being told that it is the size of 47 football pitches doesn't seem to warn you, just how big it is. The building must have taken a massive amount of time. When you realise that they didn't have JCBs, or any mechanical help, it was just people power. Wow!!!! really doesn't sum it up enough. I guess that the next time you are anywhere near Dorchester then please pop out to Maiden Castle and see for yourself, then you will understand. Very stout walking boots or shoes, plus emergency rations are needed. However, I am told, getting to the top and seeing the amazing views are worth the effort. Enjoy.
