点评:We had such a brilliant time foraging across the different landscapes of a tiny remote corner of Pembrokeshire - woodland, hedgerow, meadow and even salt marsh - and came away feeling like we’d accidentally enrolled in the world’s most entertaining botany course.
Dan’s knowledge was honestly staggering. Every plant seemed to have at least three names, a fascinating history, medicinal uses, folklore, and of course its proper Latin title delivered effortlessly like he was introducing old friends. One minute we were nibbling fresh leaves and discovering surprising flavours, the next we were learning which plants absolutely not to touch unless we fancied “a very memorable afternoon” - special mention to hemlock water dropwort, now firmly filed under plants we definitely don’t confuse with coriander.
The whole experience was wonderfully hands-on and relaxed. We tasted things straight from the hedgerow, learned how people historically used wild plants, and even covered the important etiquette of politely asking the Fae permission before cutting branches — which frankly feels like good life advice in general.
Funny, fascinating, slightly magical, and unexpectedly delicious. We’ll never look at a Norwegian spruce, flowery verge or patch of weeds the same way again!
