点评:The beach promenade all the way from Broughty Ferry to Monifieth has recently been given a major upgrade, having been widened and landscaped , with more parking bays. Noticeably, it’s now being used not just by walkers/ dog-walkers , but also cyclists, and runners/joggers as it’s mostly a flat walkway. There is also free central parking at Marine Drive, as well as public toilets.
On a nice sunny 🌞 day , with the tide out, there’s plenty golden sand to walk on, with lots of shells 🐚 en-route.
The beach boasts far-reaching views out over the Firth of Tay towards the kingdom of Fife, and it’s punctuated with wooden groynes, part of the sea defence system. The western end is actually deemed a Site of Special Interest because of the waterfowl and other seabirds that congregate here. Plus the turfy headland and sand-dunes here, are an ideal habitat for gorse, wildflowers, small animals and insects to flourish.
Look out for the ornate sculptural notice boards along the way, and the inspirational public art.
