Difficult decisions but we believe we made the right choice

点评：Our ‘wine-dash’ continued, a trip with one main aim: to return home with our full allowance of French wine.
We have, in all of our four visits to this attractive town of Amboise, bought wine from this town centre cave. The wine sold, and served, here is mostly from the Château de Montdomaine (the owners of this cave). La Cave has a pavement-patio area that operates as a comfortable wine bar, with a fabulous view of the Royal Chateau and the main central street. The cave is open for anyone to drink wine by the glass (or by the bottle) regardless of whether you want to buy to take away.
Our main aim today was to buy wine to take home to the UK. After very careful consideration, which was based on tastings, we chose a case (of six bottles) of the excellent “Callipyge”; a very well balanced dry and zesty Sauvignon Blanc. Although we had previously really enjoyed the lovely and well balanced Chenin Blanc, we had to make this difficult decision. So we chose carefully, always taking into account our duty free allowance, of 48 bottles, when taking wine home to the UK.
We did purchase two different wines by the glass, and this ultimately and certainly helped us make the right choice of wine for our tastes (which was the Callipyge). We felt most fortunate to take the last six bottles that the cave had in stock of the Callipyge 2024 vintage.
As stated the cave is a particularly attractive area to ‘sit and sip’ with that great view of the Royal Château. The service provided by the cave manager was excellent, his knowledge and very good English helped us with our choices.
