点评:Until I recently moved Ham was my local National Trust property and I've had some good visits there. Recently its suffered from ridiculous light levels in the house and difficulty getting volunteers. We came back to see the house dressed for Christmas. It was a dull day and as usual all the blinds were down. The chapel was so dark I bumped into other visitors, you could literally see nothing. If the textiles need this level of protection move them into a museum vault and get reproductions rather than have visitors stumble around in the dark. After the dark chapel we realised that only the hall, staircase and kitchen was open. This wasn't mentioned on the website or at the door. We were told there were no volunteers available. Ham and Osterley should be the crown jewels of the Trust in the South East and they are left to languish in obscurity. If you can't get volunteers pay staff to open up and get the public in. In Surrey the National Trust properties put on a wonderful Christmas for visitors. The trust needs to sort out the visitor experience here and allow the house to come alive for visitors and the local community.
