点评:This is where the river Don ends its 82 mile journey from the Grampian mountains, and discourses into the North Sea. We’ve been lucky enough to have spotted seals 🦭 bobbing about in the river, and herons, swans 🦢 , beach crows 🐦⬛ and various other species of birds.
Enjoy panoramic views over the city , and also Aberdeen Bay Windfarm. For some reason it seems to be windier than Aberdeen Beach, so prepare to be wind-blasted, or take a windbreak with you if you’re picnicking. Walk on the firmer sand, as the loose sand can be quite deep and hard going. Lots of interesting driftwood accumulates here, and the dunes are edged with gorse , beach-rose and other wildflowers.
There’s a free carpark on Donmouth Road, and the newish wooden boardwalk makes for easier access to the beach. Other than that there are no facilities, or nearby shops. Would also recommend walking up the side of the river Don from here to Bridge of Balgownie, as it’s really rather beautiful, and would add to the experience.
