One of the most historic sites in London!

点评：The Houses of Parliament, consisting of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, form one of the most iconic heritage sites in London. The two houses are technically situated in the Parliament of Westminster, but most people refer to it as the Houses of Parliament. Originally built in the 11th century, the palace was devastated by a major fire in the 19th century and most of what you see today is a result of the Gothic Revival reconstruction by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin.
However, there are still parts of the original palace that remain, in particular the impressive medieval Westminster Hall, which is more than 900 years old. Some of the other highlights of this attraction are the House of Lords and House of Commons chambers, the central lobby, and St Stephen's Hall which contains a collection of statues of renowned members of parliament.
Standard tickets to this site cost a minimum of £27.00 for the self-guided audio tour, but you could also pay a bit more for the £34.00 guided tour. We did the self-guided tour and we were quite happy to enjoy the building and the audio tour at our leisure. I would say that I easily spent over an hour and a half in the Houses of Parliament and I listened to all of the content on the audio guide.
Parliament is not open to tours when it is in session, so if you want to visit, you should carefully check the website as well as find out when parliament is sitting in order to avoid disappointment. Although I would say that this site is a must for those interested in British politics and history, if you're not very keen on this subject, there are much cheaper, even free amazing attractions in London that you can visit such as the British Museum.
