We loved the gardens far more than the Castle

点评：My 5 out of 5 was for the beautiful Castle gardens which are magnificent.
Only part of the Castle is really old medieval the rest is 19th century for the Norfolk family to show off their wealth.
The same goes for the Cathedral.
If you love stately homes showing off their wealth then no doubt this will appeal.
However, the gardens are full of amazing faux stone carved features in the Italian style and actually made of wood.
There are several 'stumperys' which is a wonderful eco way of 'saving' fallen trees.
The inverted stumps are then piled up or set out with their roots uppermost and left to allow other plants grow over and around them: creating stunning environmental sculptures that will change and develop with time and being weathered.
Another environmental feature is a small shelter with carved antlers decorating the outside and the inside walls lined with moss and dried grass arrangements.
It has quite a magical quality.
There are several fountains and water features. One being a crown kept suspended in mid air by a water spout which is both clever and amusing.
So the admission price isn't cheap at £28 for adults Castle & Gardens but £16 for the gardens definitely worth the money.
