点评:Pros:
- The small gardens are lovely, but do feel quite modern, considering the history of the land and house.
- The cafe and shop staff were very pleasant.
- Very tidy and well-kept.
- We got a new stamp in our National Trust Passport.
Cons:
- The house. I mean, really, what is going on in there?! It's pretty empty and boring.
We became National Trust members to view old houses how they once looked, learning more about the owners and the history of the house. But Beningbrough is empty and whitewashed. The ground floor was pretty sparse with only one small bedroom and the drawing room having any furniture, and even that didn't look right for the period of the house. Upstairs was much worse - totally empty, except for a huge modern wicker art sculpture and a modernised 'creative drawing' room for kids (part of some exhibition that nobody cares about). I can't stand it when old houses try to push modern art and eco-friendly vibes down your throat - that isn't what people are visiting for. We were in and out of the house in 20 minutes. I'd be gutted if I'd paid £16.50 per person - how it currently looks, it should be free.
I'm giving 2 out of 5 because I have actually seen worse National Trust properties - this one was at least very clean and tidy.
