点评：We were really looking to visiting this museum for the opening celebration today (11th Jan).
This place has been closed for a year and half so I was sad and quite shocked to see that literally half the floors/galleries were closed/not finished(?). Sadly, the only areas that were open were all the old parts. And what's worse, the broken exhibits in those old parts hadn't even been fixed!
Considering the place has been closed since June 2023 and has had £6 million spent on it in that time, I really was expecting more.
I hate to be negative, but it's hard to be anything but on this occasion. I've loved this museum over the years I hope it continues to be successful. But the place was packed today yet I can't imagine many visitors left with a positive impression after leaving a half closed museum during an opening celebration! I'm sure some serious reputational damage was done today - it really was that bad.
My advice to avoid disappointment: stay away until it's actually open.
