Rude and abusive staff towards children.
The Tide Climbing Centre的点评
点评：I recently visited Tide Climbing Centre with my wife and 4-year-old son, and sadly our experience was very upsetting. While filling out our waivers, my son climbed onto the wooden bench next to the computers. I was momentarily distracted by the form and slow to notice. A staff member, tall with a beard, then shouted at him in an extremely aggressive and abusive way, which made my son cry and wet himself. He has been fully toilet trained since the age of 2 and has never once wet himself since, so this was a huge shock for us.
When I raised my concerns with the staff member, I was dismissed and told it was our fault for not supervising our child closely enough, and that this was simply how staff always spoke to people “for safety reasons.” While I absolutely understand and respect the importance of safety in an environment like this, the way it was handled was completely disproportionate, unprofessional, and unacceptable.
I am quite certain this was not the owner, as I cannot imagine an owner ever treating their customers and guests in such a way. Perhaps because there are only a small number of climbing centres in Cornwall, customer service isn’t seen as a priority to them. However, if this were my business, I would be horrified to think that my staff were speaking to customers, especially children in a manner that left them distressed and humiliated. No parent should ever have to watch their child be treated like that in a place that ought to feel welcoming and family-friendly.
Causing a young child such distress that he wet himself is degrading, humiliating, and wholly unacceptable. Having taken time to reflect, I now see this incident as an abusive act towards a child. The safety and dignity of children is important and I will be pursuing this matter further through the appropriate channels.
I welcome a response from them but given the dismissive nature and discourse at the time I doubt I'll get one.
