点评：I am not a fan of negative review writing. But a recent visit to Dunscome Park needs to be written about.
My wife and I are Historic House members and so we get free admission. We turned up one morning, parked, got our wristbands and set off to the gardens. The signage is small and not easy to spot. The chap on the admission point gave us a map but it wasn't clear and was of little use in navigating our way.
The entrance is a good 10 minutes walk (uphill) from the car park.
Things started to go wrong when it became clear that the entrance door to the gardens was locked. So i walked 10 minutes back and spoke to the guy who gave us our wristbands and he called someone who could hopefully open the door. It was all a bit Fawlty Towers. Clearly the door not being unlocked was not uncommon.
So i then walked the 10 minutes back to find the door was finally open. I had spent 30 minutes walking and still hadn't gone inside.
As others have written, and as the sign listing the deficiencies of the gardens at the admission desk stated - the gardens are not gardens at all, just a patch of woodland. Nice woodland, but just trees and grass. No where to sit, no route to follow, no staff, no guides, no signs and no other visitors either. It felt so overbaring and unwelcoming.
So we left.
There are so many other gardens to visit in this area, I would suggest that people go to the ones where there are actual gardens and they are made to feel welcome.

正如其他人所写的那样。正如接待处那块列出花园缺点的告示牌上所写的——这些根本算不上是花园，只不过是一片林地而已。林地倒是不错，但只有树木和草丛。没有可以坐的地方，没有可供行走的路径，没有工作人员，没有向导，没有指示牌，甚至连其他游客也没有。那种氛围令人感到压抑且毫无亲切感。
所以我们离开了。
这一带还有很多其他花园值得参观呢。我建议人们去那些有真正花园且能让人感到受到欢迎的地方。
