点评:This is a unique museum with lots of interactive elements for the children and a reasonably priced cafe. The museum was well organised and spotlessly clean and tidy.
On our visit we experienced a pop-up exhibition on how leech’s are used in modern medicine, which our two, two year olds were enthralled by. Despite some of the exhibits being well above the children; they had a great afternoon out.
There is a small soft play area which requires pre-booking. This is themed as inside the body which was pretty cool.
The only drawback was that it took us 30 minutes to find a car parking space and another 30 minutes to find our way back to the museum. The signage is very poor indeed. The museum is co-located with what seems to be half the Yorkshire NHS, including a major working hospital. Whilst on the one hand this seems sensible, mixing a tourist attraction with a hospital has some major issues. The museum itself has a very small car park which would be fine if you were not competing for spaces with everyone visiting or working at the hospital. The planning around infrastructure is a major drawback.
However, if you can get past the initiation test, then this is a place well worth a visit. It brings to life the remarkable discoveries and advancements of modern medicine and makes you appreciate what we have.
