点评:This was THE MOST LOVELY day out! My mum is over 80 and needs a wheelchair and this place advertised as accessible. We saw 5 big steps to go in and wondered but before we'd even had time to say "Mansion House" a volunteer came down the steps and directed us to the back of the building with a superb private lift entrance. The whole place is wheelchair accessible - even the basement - and we had a wonderful day exploring the old Lord Mayor's home. Volunteers could NOT BE MORE HELPFUL and kind, knowledgeable and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and noone was too busy to talk to Mum with her stilting, slow stroke-afflicted communication. They were all so kind.
The interractive aspects were out of this world with our favourites being the cook book with Dr Annie Gray teaching us how to make Georgian dishes and a "history through this window" in the Main Hall on the first floor over looking the Square.
We even had a live demo on how to make icecream the Georgian way which was SO interesting.
We had a wonderful day. And a good pastie from across the road at the end.
GO - you will not be disappointed.
Admission Fee about £10 for the two of us and Best for Accessibility.
