Nostell Priory and Parkland的点评
点评：We have been members of the National Trust for years and also pay for membership for our sons and their children. We all love to visit and decided to take our grandchildren, their parents and us to Nostell where we have been previously. The house is lovely with some beautiful rooms, Robert Adam interiors and Chippendale furniture. The volunteers are lovely and are knowledgeable, we found the history interesting, including the Harrison clock. The grounds are well kept and our grandchildren aged 8 and 6 loved exploring and enjoyed the river walk. Up to now 5 stars all the way! Our only disappointment was the children’s playground which was tired and neglected. Some of it was taped off so couldn’t be used and this is not surprising given that it looked very unsafe. There was a sign saying some equipment was waiting for repairs but these looked as though they should have been done some time ago. Having been to both Wentworth Castle gardens and Fountains Abbey this trip, both NT in Yorkshire with excellent playgrounds it obviously isn’t a policy not to have equipment for children. I understand that the Trust is to preserve houses and their environments and I support this, however, we visit to show the children something different, to show them their history as well as for them to have fun. These children are future supporters so I do think it is not out of the way to maintain a few pieces of equipment for them. Also very few sandwiches available in the cafe.
