WESTWOOD MANOR - INTERESTING HISTORY AND GARDEN

点评：Tuesday 17 September 2024, my husband and I went to visit Westwood Manor. This beautiful small manor house, built over three centuries, has late Gothic and Jacobean windows, decorative plasterwork and two important keyboard instruments of the period, a harpsichord and a virginal. The hall contains some very fine 17th & 18th Century Flemish tapestries.
The house also contains a very fine collection of wooden boxes used for writing materials, spices, clothes and the manor’s household expenses and accounts.
Outside there is a wonderful topiary garden set round a small rectangular pool. This gives a very peaceful and tranquil air to the house, along with the sound of harpsichord music as you wander round the house. I found inspiration here and I wrote a poem called ‘Between Here & Now’. My husband and I spent a nice hour sitting in the sunshine in this pretty garden.
We were then in need of refreshments, as there is no tea room at the manor we then left in the late afternoon.
