Capitol Reef National Park的点评
点评：We drove down the 8 mile scenic road, which goes thru the middle of the park. At CRNP you are at the bottom of the canyon looking up at the beautiful rock formations. They view is beautiful everywhere you look. There are parking areas along the side of the road, where you can take pix & even go on some hiking trails. The paved road ends at a gravel road where you can drive into the canyon. It is not too rough, so a regular passenger vehicle can traverse it. The road is THIN with some tight turns, where only one vehicle can fit. Here you are driving at the foot of the canyon where you can see house sized boulders that have fallen over 1000s of years. This gravel trail ends at a parking lot where you can hike a few different trails. One trail goes up to the top of the canyon (really cool but we were short on time) the next trail went along the dry riverbed further through the canyon, where it did get narrower (maybe about a car width but nothing like the other slots canyons where they are a few feet wide.) Nothing extreme but you get the jist of it.
I wish we had another day or two because the You tube videos I have seen (particularly from "We're in the Rockies") show the really cool areas were in the remote part of the park. In conclusion, what we did manage to see was absolutely beautiful but did not scratch the surface. I WILL be back soon. Next time I will explore the remote areas in an SUV or Jeep. I will, also, get some mountain biking in. I plan on at least 2 days. With Torrey just outside the park, there are plenty of lodging & dining options. It's a nice small mountain town with NO FAST FOOD for you fast food junkies. But that's just the way they like it. Respect the local town folk.
