Balmoral visit when castle and grounds closed.
Balmoral Castle的点评
点评：Gladys and I happen to visit the area on a Sunday, but as the family were in residence the castle and grounds were closed. Plenty of parking. The little shop and terrace cafe were open. The cafe is all outdoor seating which was fine for the day we went, they did take aways too. Very polite and helpful staff in cafe. I ordered a roasted vegetable ciabatta which was packed full of veggies and cheese. Prices very reasonable.
Toilets clean and well stocked.
We also visited the little shop that was beautifully merchandised, the retail assistant engaged with all the visitors in a very professional and friendly manner, taking time to answer their questions.
We purchased some Balmoral Castle Heather Honey which comes from bee hives on the estate - OMG it is amazing the BEST Heather Honey I have ever tasted! During the closure of the grounds and castle you are still able to walk to the Pyramid, but due to a recent foot injury we gave opted out of that this time round.
To help familiarise the location of the shop and cafe, these are located by the main gate. Which was the focal point for the world’s media and flower laying when her late Majesty passed at Balmoral in Sept 2022.
Our visit actually coincided with the family attending Crathie Kirk which was an added bonus, but the area is just beautiful to wander with some very interesting historical aspects going back to Queen Victoria to take in.
Crathie post office also contains an art gallery.
Will defo be back to visit the grounds and castle at some point in the future.
