Simply an excellent day out!
Hanbury Hall的点评
点评：Returning from a late evening landing at Birmingham airport we spotted signs for Hanbury Hall, M5 junction 5. We decided to make the return trip.
That is what we did on one of the UK's sunniest days in late April.
Initial reaction to the 'visitor reception' was not a good one. Upon enquiring about maps, leaflets or any other guide to te property we were told in a brusque manner, 'we don't do them, we are helping to save the planet!'
However, swiftly emerging from the background came a very helpful lady who directed us to a map that we were able to photograph.
A coffee and cake in the Stable cafe set us up for the day. We took in a delightful walk in the grounds. All walks are colour coded and clearly signposted enroute.
In spite of a horse-fly bite to my leg, all was well.
We took in the house were the house guides were excellent, very knowledgable and most willing to give their time in answering questions (A detailed guide book would also have been useful..). The house tour is cleverly organised to deposit the vistor at the restaurant area. We had a most excellent lunch of baked potato, one with chilli beans, the other tuna mayo.
Stuffed as we were we then took in a very leisurely stroll through the gardens. Again, highly recommended. The head gardener and staff are recreating the formal garden from ye ancient plans. The result is stunning.
A final ice cream before we set off for home.
Simply an excellent day out, with the drive home taking us through some wonderful countryside.
