Fantastic, accessible day out, great for tweens, teens and the elderly
Armagh Observatory and Planetarium的点评
点评:Find things to do for an 85 year old with very limited mobility, a 12 year old and a 14 year old is tricky. The Armagh Observatory and Planetarium was a superb day out which everyone loved. 'Telescope Tuesdays' allowed us to hear about and touch the 200 year old telescope and learn from lovely, enthusiastic guides who were PhDs in Astronomy, they also guided us through the 'human orrery' tracing the movements of the planets. All of this was easily done with my father in a wheelchair and he could fully take part as they lowered the telescope but some parts of the site are very steep. Drive up to to top via a seperate entry from the Planetarium if you can't do much walking.
The grounds and buildings are beautiful but is is the excellent staff who make the experience so welcoming. When the blue badge parking was full they let us pull in to drop off my father and also radioed ahead to prepare seating, they were so helpful.
The Planetarium show was excellent and we spent around two hours exploring the rest of the exhibitions which had lots of hands on experiments and games. The cafe only serves drinks, ice-cream, scones and biscuits, there's no provision for lunch or anything savoury. A massive hit with all three generations of my family.
