点评:While plotting our walking course to the Anne Frank Haus, I spotted "The Milkmaid Project" listed nearby on the map and was intrigued enough to look it up. Even though I normally dislike having my picture taken, my inner art historian couldn't resist the opportunity to become one with a Vermeer or Rembrandt painting.
It turned out to be one of the highlights of our time in Amsterdam. I wasn't expecting the authentic 17th century props or the incredible attention to detail.
On the Milkmaid photoshoot set, the floor and window are skewed to match the viewer's perspective. The tablecloth folds are supported to stay at the same angles of the original painting, Even the nail in the wall casts the correct shadow.
But what really elevated the experience was Sander, his fascinating stories about how he built the Milkmaid Project, about the neighborhood history, and about his theories on Vermeer's thought process. His enthusiasm is infectious and it was a delight spending time in his company.
In reading the prior reviews, I didn't see a single negative comment. The praise for this experience is genuinely well-deserved.
