点评：many online reviewers get confused between Chiesa di Santa Maddalena 46.64475873773837, 11.719390937936558 and Chiesetta di San Giovanni (Church of St John) 46.635146140781906, 11.724265694341945.
they are two different churches and both are located quite far apart.
1) Chiesa di Santa Maddalena
- No admission fee
- 4e parking fee for full day (until 10 pm)
- Long 20-30 min walk uphill to the "Panorama Sitzbank" viewpoint. this is where you want to be to take landscape photo of the entire valley, not directly where the church is
- Do not sit on any of the grassland at the viewpoint. there is a resident nearby who will reprimand you if you do that. Just sit on the road
2) Chiesetta di San Giovanni (Church of St John)
- 4e admission fee
- 2e parking fee for 2h max
- Short 5 min walk
Verdict:
- The dolomites peaks are better situated behind #1. Afternoon sun is best for photography.
- My guess is the Instagram-famous dolomites valley scene was taken here initially.
- But entrepreneurial Italians are probably taking advantage of tourists ignorance and mix up, and start charging admission fee for #2, which honestly is somewhat negligible.
