点评:I went to St Antony's College as a master's student around 14 years ago and I used my alumni card to visit St Hilda's College with a couple of friends, though the college is also available to members of the public to visit for free through appointment only. I was pleasantly surprised by the college's beautiful informal landscape gardens and its lovely riverside location.
Named after the Anglo-Saxon saint Hilda of Whitby, St Hilda's was founded as one of Oxford's women's colleges and it has a number of distinguished alumni including the writer Susanna Clarke, the historian Margaret MacMillan, the journalist Zanny Minton Beddoes, and the scientist Susan Greenfield. Since its founding in 1893, it admitted only women until 2008 when it became coeducational and started to admit men.
Although St Hilda's is a lovely college, it's worth noting that it's located about 15 minutes away from Oxford's historic centre, so it might be a good idea to combine a visit here with a trip to Magdalene College, which is only a short walk away.
