Upton House & Gardens的点评
点评：Our first visit here and we were blown away by the sheer size of the Bearsted art collection and how beautifully the paintings sit within the house. The room guides were all helpful and knowledgeable and each room contains a more in depth guide to each painting should you wish to learn more. Some gorgeous displays of Chelsea and Sevres porcelain too.
The pavilion cafe was just right, with tables inside and out, and the food offering quite varied, with meals cooked from scratch on the premises. We enjoyed a baked potato and a cauliflower and chickpea pasty for lunch, then went back later to sample the parsnip and ginger cake with a cuppa. Served by very pleasant staff.
There is a small second hand bookshop and, at the time of our visit, a sculpture exhibition in the squash court. And the usual NT shop with a small plant centre outside.
The terraced gardens were delightful, with a fabulous seasonal display of asters - Upton holds the National Collection - and acers. A well managed fruit and vegetable garden overlooks the mirror pond and there’s a woodland walk and orchard area to enjoy. We didn’t visit the bog garden, but will do so on our next visit.
